Using creams with HappySkin

For best results, stop using products containing paraffin. Thick, paraffin-based creams sit on the surface of the fabric and stop the coating from working, so please make sure any paraffin residue is thoroughly washed off your child’s skin before dressing. If your child’s skin needs extra moisture, apply a thin layer of a non-paraffin cream, and let the cream absorb fully before putting on the garment. The unique coating on your HappySkin garment works best when in direct contact with your child’s skin.

Fabric and washing

White only, with no dyes. Ready to wear straight from the box. Wash at 30 to 40°C, tumble dry low or medium, do not bleach or dry clean. Some bobbling after washing is normal with this soft fabric and does not affect how it works.

Their HappySkin 30-Night Care System

The technology

How the DreamSkin coating works

DreamSkin is coated on every garment. Our unique technology supports the skin's natural moisturisation to keep your little one at a comfortable temperature, whilst reducing sweat and itch.

  • Happy Skin drawing: the fabric lifting off the skin, with arrows circling moisture between them

    Manages moisture

Holds and releases moisture at the skin, so it isn’t left too dry or too damp.

  • Happy Skin drawing: the fabric lifting off the skin, with warm arrows rising out through it

    Regulates temperature

Lets the body heat and cool as it needs to, so they stay comfortable at night.

  • Doesn’t wash out. Bonded to the fabric, so it washes at 30 to 40°C with everything else.
  • Works from the box. No need to wash it first.
How to use it

Getting the best from HappySkin

  • Keep creams thin

The coating has to touch the skin to work, and thick creams or ointments block it. Use a thin layer of a non-paraffin moisturiser and let it dry completely before dressing.

  • Choose a snug fit

Snug but not too tight, so the coating stays in contact with the skin. Check the size chart

  • Wear it as much as you need

Day and night, up to 24 hours a day if needed, under their normal clothes or as nightwear.

Stop using paraffins.

For best results, stop using products containing paraffin/petrolatum. Please ensure that paraffin residue in skin pores is thoroughly washed out. The unique coating on your HappySkin garment works best when in direct contact with your child’s skin.

Questions

About this pack

Can newborns wear HappySkin eczema clothing?

Yes. Sizes start at 0 to 3 months, for babies up to 62cm, and the garments are white with no dyes and ready to wear straight from the box, which suits a newborn’s delicate skin. Fold the mitts over in the early weeks to protect the skin from tiny nails.

Is this pack suitable for babies with sensitive skin but no eczema diagnosis?

Yes. HappySkin is made for dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin, so you don't need a diagnosis to start. Many parents choose the Introductory Pack when normal clothes leave red or rough patches on the chest, back or legs, because one bodysuit and one pair of leggings cover the areas that tend to flare first, and you can add more pieces whenever your baby needs them.

Do I need to wash the clothes before the first wear?

No. Most advice for sensitive skin says to wash new clothes first to remove dyes and finishing chemicals, but HappySkin garments are white with no dyes and are ready to wear straight from the box. The DreamSkin coating is bonded to the fabric, so the coating stays in place when you wash the garments at 30 to 40°C.

How is HappySkin different from organic cotton baby clothes?

Organic cotton is soft and breathable, but the fabric itself does nothing to help the skin. HappySkin garments are a TENCEL and cotton blend coated with DreamSkin, which holds and releases moisture at the skin so the skin isn't left too dry or too damp, and regulates temperature so your baby stays comfortable rather than sweaty. Outward seams and no labels mean nothing rough sits against irritated skin.

Why should the bodysuit fit snugly rather than loosely?

Loose clothing is often recommended for eczema because ordinary fabric rubs and traps heat against the skin. HappySkin works differently, because the DreamSkin coating needs to touch the skin for best results, so choose a snug fit that isn't tight using our size chart along side the sizing options. If the size isn't right, you can exchange unworn, unwashed items within 30 days.

Can my baby wear the Baby Introductory Pack at night?

Yes. The bodysuit and leggings can be worn as nightwear on their own, without extra layers on top, so the same set works day and night. With one set, the pieces need washing between wears, so some parents add a sleepsuit with foldable mitts for bedtime once a routine is in place.
